If there is one thing that you should never forget as a stay-at-home mom is to take care of yourself.
Just because you’re staying at home most of the time does not mean you will no longer take care of your skin especially your face. And by choosing the best sunscreen for your face, you’re doing yourself a huge favor that you’re future self will thank you for.
But because you’re a busy stay-at-home mom, I have curated the best sunscreens for the face that have the most number of sales with positive ratings.
The one that I use is Biore UV Aqua Rich Sunscreen SPF50. I can’t find gel-based sunscreen here in the Philippines so my sister bought this for me from Amazon.
I love using it because it’s very light and it dries fast. You can wear it under your make-up but in my case, I put it under press powder because I don’t wear make-up.
I have bought different sunblocks before but after 2 to 3 times of application, I discontinue using them. They are greasy and leaves a sticky feeling. Some that have a matte finish is cakey and clogs your pores.
But with Biore UV Aqua Rich Sunscreen, I don’t feel sticky at all. That’s why I’ve been using it for over a year already.
What is SPF on sunscreens?
SPF is short for sun protection factor.
This is a relative measure of how long a sunscreen will protect you from ultraviolet rays (UVB).
UVB are ultraviolet rays that play the greatest role in causing skin cancers, including the deadly black mole form of skin cancer (malignant melanoma).
UVA is responsible for premature skin aging changes including wrinkle formation (photoaging). According to the University of Iowa and Hospitals and Clinics, there are approximately 500 times more UVA rays in sunlight than UVB rays.
What is broad-spectrum on sunscreens?
Having SPF on the bottle of your sunscreen is does not mean it has maximum protection. Broad-spectrum protects you from both UVA and UVB so make sure your sunscreen is clearly labeled with broad-spectrum.
In a study done by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, Inc. to 32 subjects who applied sunscreen with broad-spectrum daily had a significant improvement in their skin’s clarity and texture. It also showed that it may reverse the existing photodamage, in addition to preventing additional sun damage.
What is the best sunscreen for the face?
Depends on Your Activity
For daily use, SPF30 is enough. But if you spend mostly outside with longer sun exposure, it’s best to use higher SPF.
Don’t skimp on the quality.
Quality comes with a price in most cases so don’t be stingy about it. Besides, it’s for your face anyway so that you won’t look so haggard from being a full-time mom.
Know Your skin type
If you have dry skin, choose a face sunscreen with hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid or ceramides. If you have oily skin, look for sunscreens that have a matte finish. Lighter gel formulations give a less heavy feeling if your face gets shiny throughout the day like me. Which is why I use Biore UV Aqua Rich Sunscreen.
